Role Overview

Flawless Events is an international event management agency that specializes in end-to-end design and production of international conferences, product launches and special corporate events. Our office is based in Addis Abeba, Ethiopia while our services cover the entire African continent and our clients span a spectrum of industries and nationalities. The PR & Communications Manager is a mid-level position that will oversee strategizing and implementing marketing plans for internal and external use, managing and scheduling content for social media and digital platforms for internal and external use, writing quarterly articles, attending industry trade shows, etc. The PR & Communications Manager directly supports and reports to the managing director in the execution of the company’s annual plan to advance the company’s mission. The successful candidate will be a dynamic self-starter that requires little to limited supervision to design and execute projects in a timely manner. The PR & Communications Manager will be working closely with a creative assistant in planning internal and external digital marketing strategies. The PR & Communications Manager must grow a strong industry network, increase awareness of Flawless’ impact and accomplishments by designing, implementing and monitoring effective communications campaigns. The PR & Communications Manager will report directly to managing director.

Job Duties and Responsibilities


  • Devise innovative and original PR strategy aligned with Flawless’ ambitious goals
  • Develop a goal-oriented, time-bound action plan complete with KPIs to achieve strategy
  • Guide implementation of strategy and marketing campaigns across various platforms

Writing, Graphic & Visual Design

  • Develop event concepts and craft proposals in response to RFPs and pitch to clients
  • Propose ideas for signature event that Flawless can own as an annual tradition
  • Write quarterly articles on topics of relevance and interest within business events industry
  • Create and implement digital marketing campaigns for clients when requested
  • Support team in crafting & editing proposals, event reports and online communication

Research & Analysis

  • Experiment with and evaluate various marketing channels – print, visual, audio, social media etc.
  • Monitor industry trends, research consumer markets and peers’ activities to identify opportunities and key issues
  • Measure and report performance of marketing campaigns according to KPIS

Networking & Communication

  • Keep clients and internal staff abreast of progress with projects and respond to feedback
  • Build positive relationships within the company, with stakeholders, media and the public
  • Develop a relationship with local media houses including print, television and radio
  • Craft press releases, media invites, human interest stories as needed
  • Seek, solicit and secure potential new clients through networking, outreach activities and research
  • Engage in clear, fact checked communication with clients, audience and partners alike
  • Be resourceful in leveraging team, networks and leadership’s knowledge for new marketing initiatives

Events Support

  • Attend events to capture photos and human interest stories from participants
  • Support internal staff with preparing appropriate communication materials to coordinate action before, during and after events and campaigns

Carry out other duties as needed by the nature of the work

Education And Experience

Bachelor’s Degree or higher  with a minimum 5 years experience in marketing and communications

Knowledge And Skills

  • The candidate should have high level of integrity, accountability, punctuality and be willing to work beyond normal set working hours • Candidate should be a good team player
  • Demonstrated and extensive social media experience
  • Understanding of digital media strategies and media relations
  • Excellent written and oral communication in Amharic and English
  • Initiative and ingenuity in developing and implementing ideas
  • Experience in identifying target audiences and devising campaigns that engage, inform and motivate
  • Ability to adapt and multi-task in a fast-moving environment and meet deadlines
  • Advanced working knowledge of MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Initiative and creativity
  • Awareness of current affairs and a passion for finding out new information
  • Self-confident and sociable – ability to network effectively
  • Highly organized with research skills
